Different tyres perform differently on different types of routes, in different conditions and with different driving styles. Though choosing a tyre with lower rolling resistance is in principle a step in the right direction for reducing emissions, finding out if or how much money (or fuel) you will save is significantly more complex. Every aspect of each of your vehicle configurations and the individual journeys those vehicles take, will have an impact on the % cost and CO2 that can be saved by your choice in tyre. In the development of Tyre Analytics, the Dynamon team have carried out extensive research and validation testing to refine our approach to accurately quantify real-world tyre performance and cost.

In 2018 our approach was validated during scientific trials with ASDA that showed a 15% reduction in fuel consumption, within controlled conditions. Applying this to fleet specific circumstances takes into account numerous additional factors such as the variety of vehicle configurations and vehicle journeys. The test confirmed our ability to accurately predict fuel consumption, enabling us to implement Tyre Analytics in real-world fleet operations, on a national scale.

We are continually researching tyre performance and it is a complex beast. There is no quick answer and possible savings are entirely fleet specific. This is why Tyre Analytics must simulate every component of vehicle fuel consumption, with millions of calculations being performed for each vehicle analysed.
